PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Oversees and optimizes injection molding processes to ensure efficient production and high-quality output.

This Job Posting is for an off shift Process Technician – 2nd Shift, 3rd Shift.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation and Maintenance:

  • Ensure machines operate safely and efficiently, while meeting or exceeding performance standards, guided by the bill of materials (BOM).
  • Monitors performance using IQMS RealTime Monitoring to ensure all jobs adhere to established standards for labor and cycle efficiency.
  • Proactively investigates and corrects any deviations to maintain optimal production levels.
  • Actively reviews machine parameters and set points to guarantee the production of high-quality parts, ensuring compliance with quality standards and master setups.
  • Maintains the neatness and organization of the plant, ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
  • Manage setups for injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. This includes preparing and adjusting the machinery and associated devices before production runs to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform start-up and shut-down procedures for presses and plant operations as needed, ensuring that these critical tasks are conducted in a safe, orderly, and timely manner to maintain production schedules and machine longevity.
  • Regularly audits supplies at machines to prevent unexpected downtime by ensuring all necessary materials are readily available.
  • Cleans parting lines on molds and greases leader pins as needed to ensure optimal mold function and prolong equipment life.
  • Implements or actively participates in continuous improvement activities and corrective actions to enhance production processes and product quality.
  • Conduct regular audits of products to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to scrap rates and defects.
  • Document process adjustments and improvements to enhance product quality.
  • Collaboratively communicates with colleagues both within and outside of their department to ensure seamless operations and enhance cross-functional teamwork.
  • Serve as interim supervisor as designated by Plant Management, stepping into a leadership role to maintain productivity and team cohesion in the supervisor’s absence.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all company safety policies, including Spill Prevention, Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, and emergency response.
  • Train and become proficient in emergency and accident response, including effective use of fire extinguishers.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understanding of Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Procedure.
  • Understanding of Operation Controls Procedure.
  • Understands Lock Out/Tag Out Procedure.
  • Be a part of corrective/preventative actions.
  • Assist in the implementation of preventative actions.
  • Proficient in the use of a fire extinguisher.
  • Identify and respond to emergency situations and accidents and prevent or mitigate associated adverse environmental impacts.
  • Maintain order and professional conduct throughout the manufacturing area.
  • Evaluate production date in the computer system.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and hot liquids. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Understanding mold setting.
  • Understanding of troubleshooting the injection molding process.
  • Forklift license.
  • Involves frequent contact with personnel inside and outside the company requiring reasonable tact, discretion, and self-expression.
